I am quite disappointed in today’s news that Samsung is discontinuing the Note 7. I had very much wanted the phone to beat the iPhone. I have been saving some pennies up to purchase it and I am almost there. It was going to be such a great replacement for my current Note 4. I can’t help think they tried to push it out too quickly to beat the iPhone 7 launch. I guess I will need to wait till they revise it or make a Note 8.
Have a DB7

They’ll probably have a good look at it, see what caused the fires, fix it for the next version. Most people will forget about it by next year.

My guess: They’ll fix the battery issue, add some insignificant upgrade, then introduce it as something like a Note 7S.
I think I’ll go for a note 5 when I get to upgrade my 4. It’s a tank and I don’t need a whole lot more power.

They’ll have another phablet some time, but I’d guess the Note brand is dead.

Nah, it just confirms their superphone status.
Where have all the lightweights gone?

Say good-bye to the SD Card slot. Unless you have your heart set on a phone w/ the S Pen, get the S7 Edge.

They can’t kill the Note name. i REQUIRE the Note to be my phone.

Why would you want the Note 5? They are inferior to the 4. I’d rather have an S7 than a Note 5.

I mean, its not a bad phone. It must be a US thing, but why the dual sim cards?

It’s just a common thing in Asia I guess. Think telco is so cheap there some people have multiple lines for work.

With my 4, I only have 64GB total memory including the SD card. I won’t terribly miss it if I don’t get the cheapest Note 5 option. The pen and the computing power are worth it.

The 5 has better (more) processor, more ram, and no more storage than I have with my 32gb card if I get the 64gb model. Removable battery doesn’t really matter to me (as long as it’s still replaceable with a little work).
Even more noticeable would be the build quality. The 4 is nice, but it still has a lot of plastic on the outside.

That is a fair point. I just want to have expandable memory for multiple chips.

Me too, I had the original Note and currently have the Note 3. Almost 3 years old and still a great phone. Phones haven’t advanced that much the last few years. I was looking into the Note 7 also, was a sweet phone but, really not much better than my Note 3. Hopefully the next one will be a game changer.

I thought it was worth the upgrade, but yes the models change so frequently without much growth, cause there isn’t any. They should go back to a model a year at most, this every 6-8 months crap is stupid.

Um, Im not saying that a phone can’t have problems (my phones I’ve owned have never exhibited any fire or explosion issues) but cmon that sounds pretty outlandish. More like someone “customed” their Note 7 and whatever they did caused a problem.

But even the “fixed” ones exploded.

Well some are making it like every Note 7 model manufactured all have the same issue, when that isn’t the case. Also companies warn folks about letting their phone overcharge (yes I know some batteries say they have the overcharging protection but cmon just unplug your phone when its charged up). Its too late now though, everyone will have to turn them in anyway.
Its crazy because Samsung has been pretty consistent over the years.

Well... But I leave my phone charging all night when I sleep and most of the day at work on and off. So I would be one of those people that had one explode.

The other Note models are still available. Or at least the Galaxy S7 Edge can hold people over until the newer Note model arrives. (I don’t normally like the novelty stuff but I feel like I have to get a S7 Edge)

I’d rather just not waste the money and keep my Note 4.
